“If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on the solution, I would spend the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask, for once I know the proper question, I could solve the problem in less than five minutes.”
Albert Einstein

Dear Members

We’ve spent a lot of time over the last 21 months wondering why the right questions are not being asked. Of course there are a great many questions always floating around from both the community and those charged with coordinating earthquake recovery but often the question just leads to noise and takes us away from the right thinking.
Perhaps if we all spent more of our time thinking about what the right question is and to whom it should be aimed at, we could move more quickly and confidently to the solutions and actions that generate useful outcomes!

The CERA Zoning Review Process has been poorly communicated and it has caused some real confusion for residents. Please rest assured that people in the Green Zone regardless of their technical category (which is only a signifier of whether or not you need specifically engineered foundation repair/rebuild) can register to have their zoning reviewed. Lawrence Roberts, author of Avonside Blog has explained the process well in his blog which we have copied below. Although this is Lawrence’s understanding after much research, it is in no way meant to be the official summary. If you have further questions about the review or eligibility we suggest you ring CERA on 0800 RING CERA.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR PEOPLE CONSIDERING BUYING IN THE GREEN ZONE REGARDING THE ASSIGNMENT OF THE DEED OF RIGHTS. PLEASE READ BELOW IN ‘IMPORTANT BITS’.

Warm regards

Leanne and Brian
